In its simplest form, a periscope consists of a tube with mirrors at each end. Light beams running at right angles to the tube are deflected into the tube by the mirror at one end. At the other end the light beams leave the tube offset parallel to the original direction of entry. A user looking into the lower opening of a periscope will have the feeling they are viewing the surroundings from a higher position. The mirrors are positioned at a 45 � angle to the entering and exiting light beam, resulting in a rectangular deflection. The upper part is pivoted and can be rotated by 360 �.Recommended For
